About Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS)

The Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) which was founded in 1925, under the guidance of Guru Vagbhadananda in Vadakara, Kozhikode, Kerala is one of the oldest cooperatives in India that is owned and managed by cooperatives.

ULCCS is primarily a labour Contract cooperative and Total Solution Provider (TSP) for infrastructure development and management projects. It has completed nearly 7500+ projects over the last century, having evolved, diversified into sectors such as Information Technology, tourism, housing, education & skilling etc. Having a strong foothold in the construction sector and having completed several mega infrastructure projects for the State and Central Governments.

By establishing the UL Cyberpark, a lively, sustainably conscious Information Technology park (IT Park) on the Kozhikode National Highway as early as 2007, it has played a key role in shaping Kerala’s IT Sector. ULCCS established a wholly owned subsidiary named UL Technology Solutions Pvt Ltd (ULTS) that works as next-generation digital domains, blockchain, IT solutions and services.

ULCCS now operates the Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction Kollam (IIIC-Kollam) established by the State Government in Kerala with the support of the Government of India.

The cooperative prides itself on timely completion, assuring quality and precision of projects that it undertakes. ULCCS’ model cooperative governance, institutional capacity and initiatives have won national and international recognition.

ULCCS has been ranked within the top 3 positions in the list of Industry and Utilities Co-operatives in the sectoral rankings of the World Co-operative Monitor released by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) for four consecutive times in the years 2020-24. ULCCS was also awarded the first ‘Enterprising Cooperative Excellence Award’ by the International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) for the best cooperative in Asia-Pacific countries at the ICA-AP’s 16th Regional Assembly in Manila, Philippines in November 2023.

About ICA Domus Trust

The ICA Domus Trust (IDT) was established in recognition of Dr. Mauritz Bonow. He was President of the ICA from 1962 to 1975 and General Secretary of the Swedish Cooperative Union and Wholesale Society (KF). In recognition of the valuable contribution made by him to the development of cooperative movement, the IDT was set up on October 25, 1988 under the Indian Trust Act with its registered office in New Delhi, India. IDT operated out of its office at No.9, Aradhana Enclave, R.K. Puram, Sector-13, New Delhi.

The objective of the IDT is to support the goals of the cooperative movement and operate in a manner consistent with cooperative principles and values.

To achieve this, the IDT carries out the following:
  • Propagates cooperative principles and methods across the region
  • Promotes cooperatives in India and the region
  • Assists in the promotion of the economic and social progress of the farmers, workers and consumers through cooperative efforts
  • Promotes friendly and economic periodical cooperative conferences and meetings
  • Sends experts and delegates to study and observe cooperative working and achievements
  • Brings out publications for the promotion of teachings and study of cooperation
  • Promotes or carries out research studies relating to cooperatives and to collect cooperative statistics
  • Offers scholarships for study of cooperatives
  • Provides material and guidance to educational institutions, cooperatives, and mass media, regarding cooperatives
